Body found in Tiana Bay identified as 38-year-old Greenport man

David Stetler was discovered in the water Sunday afternoon after a resident reported seeing a body in the bay

The man found dead in the waters of Tiana Bay in Hampton Bays on Sunday has been identified as David Stetler, 38, of Greenport, Southampton Town Police said.

A resident called police about 2:45 p.m. after spotting what appeared to be a body in the water. Marine units, patrol officers, community response units and police detectives responded and located Stetler in the bay.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Stetler’s death.
