The second act is over.
Hoptron Brewtique has closed its Port Jefferson Village location, owner Amanda Danielsen announced Tuesday on Instagram — just three months after the beloved craft beer bar held its grand opening.
“The Brewtique will close as of Monday June 22,” Danielsen posted early in the afternoon. “I wish this had a different ending, but it doesn’t. My sincere thanks to a great staff and everyone who worked to bring this vision to life. Your hard work never went unnoticed.”
No reason for the closure was given. Greater Long Island was unable to reach Danielsen.
The news drew an outpouring of disappointment from followers: “I’m so saddened to hear this,” one commenter wrote. “Port Jeff needed this spot.”
As Greater Long Island reported in March, Hoptron Brewtique opened in the former Toast Coffeehouse space in downtown Port Jefferson following a packed soft opening that drew more than 100 guests — including loyal regulars from the bar’s original Patchogue run.
For Danielsen, the Port Jefferson location had represented a long-awaited second chance. She had closed Hoptron’s Patchogue location in 2019 after a seven-year run, selling the business as she navigated new motherhood and a family health crisis.
“It was something I never really wanted to let go of,” she said at the time of the reopening. “Even when I sold it, I had to — but I didn’t want to.”
The soft opening in early March drew old regulars who arrived carrying mementos from a decade-plus of memories at the Patchogue original — a sign, Danielsen had said, that the community hadn’t forgotten what Hoptron meant to them.
