Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace has officially taken its Italian favorites on the road.
The Long Island-based grocer rolled out its new food truck Friday and Saturday in Smithtown, kicking off a five-weekend tour celebrating the company’s 25th anniversary and Italian Heritage Month. Then they hit the Columbus Lodge #2143 Feast & Festival in Massapequa on Sunday.
The truck served sausage-and-peppers heroes during its first stop and will now head to Uncle Giuseppe’s Port Jefferson location from Oct. 9-11, where zeppoles will be on the menu.
“Italian food and tradition have been at the heart of Uncle Giuseppe’s from the beginning,” CEO and co-founder Carl DelPrete said. “October is Italian Heritage Month, and we thought it was a good time to introduce the truck and celebrate our 25th anniversary with our customers.”
After Port Jefferson, the truck will visit Melville from Oct. 16-18 for fried ravioli, followed by North Babylon from Oct. 23-25 for sausage-and-peppers heroes.
The tour will wrap up the tour back in Smithtown from Oct. 30-Nov. 1, serving fried ravioli.
The food truck is the latest addition for Uncle Giuseppe’s during a year of expansion. The company now operates 13 marketplaces across New York and New Jersey, including its newest Long Island store at Wheatley Plaza in Greenvale. Another Long Island location is expected to open in Levittown later this year.
Uncle Giuseppe’s is also planning new marketplaces in Moorestown, N.J., and King of Prussia, Pa., in 2027, with the latter marking its first location in Pennsylvania.
