Nassau’s 10 best elementary schools for 2027 include one of the top 10 in America

Roslyn’s East Hills Elementary is Nassau’s best and No. 10 in America, Niche says

The five New York schools ranked above it are all Success Academy charter schools in New York City. That makes East Hills the state’s top traditional district elementary school.

Syosset is the district to beat, though. Five of Nassau’s top 10 elementary schools are in the Syosset Central School District: Village, Walt Whitman, Willits, Baylis and South Grove.

Village Elementary is Nassau’s No. 2. It’s No. 9 in New York and No. 14 nationally. Walt Whitman Elementary ranks third in Nassau.

Jericho has two schools on the Nassau list, led by Jeffrey Ratner Robert Seaman Elementary at No. 4. Roslyn’s Harbor Hill School is No. 6, and Great Neck’s E.M. Baker School is No. 9.

Syosset’s Willits made the biggest jump, rising from No. 35 to No. 14 in New York, and from No. 118 to No. 28 nationally. Harbor Hill climbed from No. 27 to No. 16 in the state.

Some longtime leaders slipped. South Grove fell from No. 10 to No. 21 in New York and Baylis dropped from No. 11 to No. 17.

Just outside Nassau’s top 10 are Jericho’s George A. Jackson School (No. 29 in New York) and Syosset’s Robbins Lane Elementary (No. 30 in the state).

Eight Nassau elementary schools rank in Niche’s national top 50, while 21 hold spots in New York’s top 50.

Suffolk, by comparison, has one school in New York’s top 50.

Niche builds its rankings from federal and state data, school-reported statistics and more than three million reviews from students, parents and teachers. This year, public school test proficiency data comes from state-level sources rather than federal ones.

School districts are listed after each school name. The full rankings are at niche.com.
