The Stop & Shop in Medford is among 10 Long Island locations to have sold winning Powerball tickets for Saturday’s drawing, New York State Lottery officials announced.
The Stop & Shop in Sunshine Square off Station Road sold a $50,000 winning ticket.
The next drawing is Wednesday, Jan. 13, with the jackpot now set at $1.4 billion, the biggest Powerball jackpot ever and the largest jackpot prize of any lottery game in United States history.
It’s also the biggest lottery prize ever offered in the world that can be won with a single ticket, state officials said.
A shop in Smithtown sold the largest winning ticket on Long Island Saturday at $1 million. That ticket was purchased at Mr. Tobacco at 17 Singer Lane. A $150,000 ticket was sold at Broadway Service Center in Hicksville.
Other winning tickets worth $50,000 each were sold at:
- Kings Oceanside C-Store, 3414 Long Beach Road, Oceanside
- Citgo, 2 Jericho Turnpike., Mineola
- 7-ELEVEN, 969 West Beech Street., Long Beach
- Centereach Deli, 1769 Middle Country Road, Centereach
- STOP & SHOP, 88 Golding Avenue, West Babylon
- Huntington Shell, 132 East Main Street, Huntington
- Jinal Card & Gift, 279 Smithtown Blvd., Nesconset
“While no one hit the jackpot prize, dozens of New Yorkers are vastly richer thanks to Powerball,” said Gardner Gurney, the state’s Lottery director. “New Yorkers are cashing-in big time on history.”
Tickets expire one year after the game’s drawing.
The winners may claim the tickets at any one of the Lottery’s Customer Service Centers statewide, including the Long Island office at 45 South Service Road, Plainview, NY 11803 or at Resorts World Casino New York City, 110-00 Rockaway Blvd., Jamaica, NY 11420.

If no one matches all fives numbers plus the Powerball for Wednesday drawing, the pot will continue to grow. Prior to this jackpot, the largest multi-state Powerball jackpot was $590.5 million won in Florida in May 2013, according to the New York State Lottery.
