‘Lifestyle boutique’ Ellie J + Co. celebrates North Ocean Avenue opening in Patchogue

|

Ellie J + Co. opened quietly on North Ocean Avenue during Patchogue’s St. Patrick’s Parade last month and on Thursday locals gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony as the village welcomed another retail establishment.

Ellie J + Co. owner and lifelong village resident Eileen DeLaTorre said it’s been great.

“Day by day it gets a bit busier as more people learn we’re here,” she said.

DeLaTorre said the jewelry has been doing well, as have the pet products which she’s already had to order more of.

“We have a little bit of everything; it’s kind of that something for everyone place,” she said. “We have the pet products, the jewelry, the accessories, home decor, personal products, beauty wellness.”

“It’s really turned into a lifestyle boutique” with items for kids, adults, babies and animals, she said.

What caught our eye were the specialty glassware and other tools for bars and beers, as well as wine- and sangria-scented candles.

DeLaTorre’s children and the shop’s namesake, Ellyana, 13, and Jevani, 9, were also on hand Thursday, as were husband, Ozzy, and other family members and local business leaders.

Among them was Barbara Guerra, the owner of Dahlia Fashions on East Main Street who’s long lamented the lack of other clothing and boutique shops in the village.

Guerra has worked with the chamber to try to attract more businesses like Ellie J + Co. to Patchogue, and said she was excited about the latest addition – with more to come.

In recent months, other retailers such as Paper Doll, South Shore Vintage and Say More Boutique have set up shop or announced plans to open up in the village.
