Suffolk County Police arrested a 15-year-old Lindenhurst boy on Wednesday after he allegedly threatened to shoot people at his school during an online chat with classmates, police said.
A 911 caller reported that the teen, a student at Brennan High School in West Babylon, made the threat late Wednesday afternoon, outside of school hours, police said. Authorities are not identifying the boy due to his age.
He was charged with making a threat of mass harm, a misdemeanor, and released into the custody of his family, police said. The child will be arraigned at Suffolk County Family Court at a later date.
Brennan High School is an alternative program that serves disabled youngsters of high school age who present a variety of educational and emotional needs.
