Talk about a brazen heist.
Police said a $60,000 trailer loaded with $75,000 worth of automotive parts was stolen right off the lot at Eagle Chevrolet in Riverhead.
A week later, police still have not recovered the stolen trailer, and the suspects remain at large. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the theft, which took place on Sunday, Feb. 16, about 7:15 p.m.
Two unidentified individuals were seen removing the 24-foot enclosed trailer from the dealership’s lot at 1330 Old Country Road, Riverhead Town Police said. The thieves, driving a newer model Chevrolet Silverado, left the scene heading westbound on Route 58.
Authorities are hoping to generate investigative leads by releasing the above photo of the exterior of the trailer. Anyone with information regarding the theft should contact the Riverhead Town Police Department at 631.727.4500.
