Two women found after wave runner emergency off East Atlantic Beach

|

Two women were rescued Sunday night after their wave runners got stuck in marsh near the Woodsburgh Channel in East Atlantic Beach.

The Long Beach Fire Department says the call came in just before 6 p.m. Monday. A multi-agency search effort followed, spanning 12 square miles across Reynolds Channel and the Atlantic Ocean.

About an hour later, the women were found in good condition and brought safely back to shore.

They were evaluated by EMS but didn’t need any medical care, officials said.

The search and rescue involved two NYPD helicopters, Nassau County Police, Hempstead Bay Constables and six other fire departments.
