Two men are hospitalized in critical condition after a head-on crash just about 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day in Massapequa, police said in a report.
Nassau cops said Tasabbir Hossain, 32, of Ronkonkoma, was driving a 2021 Mercedes west in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway near Louden Avenue when he struck a 2015 Acura, operated by a 30-year-old man, Newsday reported Thursday evening.
The drivers were the sole occupants in both vehicles. Both were rushed to area hospitals with serious injuries.
Hossain is charged with assault, vehicular assault, reckless driving, and driving while intoxicated. He’ll be arraigned when medically able, police said.
Newsday photos and video from the scene show the Acura nearly demolished and the Mercedes heavily damaged on the driver’s side.
