A new retail shopping center could soon be coming to Farmingville’s busy Horseblock Road corridor.
On Thursday, the Brookhaven Town Board will hold a public hearing for the proposed project, The Shoppes at Triangle Park.
The project — to be discussed during the board’s regular 3 p.m. meeting — would bring four retail buildings to a site on Horseblock Road near Woodycrest Drive, based on site development plans reviewed by Greater Long Island.
No specific retailers or tenants have been publicly announced for the development, and a construction timeline has not been released.
What’s being proposed
The development plans call for approximately 14,850 square feet of retail space spread across four buildings, each ranging in size from 1,100 to 7,250 square feet. The largest building would be two stories, while the others would be single-story structures.
Architectural renderings show the buildings featuring stone or brick facades with peaked roofs.
The site would include 34 parking spaces and landscaping throughout the property, the site plans show. Existing structures at the park, which is the site of the Farmingville clock and the community’s annual tree lighting ceremony during the holiday season, would need to be demolished before construction could begin.
Across the year, the park hosts fairs, festivals and other well-attended community events.
Public hearing
Residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on the project during the public hearing at the board meeting.
The Town Board will consider public feedback before making a final decision on whether to approve the site plan.
If approved, the project would still need to meet all local building and zoning requirements before construction could commence.
