A Cake in Time moves to The Shoppes at East Wind in Wading River

|

Baking has always been a passion for Setauket’s Sherry Sobel.

But her abilities to whip up delicious cakes and confections was limited by her 9-to-5.

That was until she decided to give up her job as a project manager and opened her first-ever bakery in Mount Sinai called A Cake in Time.

There she created custom cakes for birthday parties to weddings, and everything in-between.

She became so popular, celebrities and professional athletes came calling. Her work can be seen in Adam Sandler’s new movie that was filmed on Long Island called The Week Of.

Now, fast forward 10 years and 2,000 cakes later, A Cake in Time has moved into a larger location in The Shoppes at East Wind of Wading River.

“I needed to expand,” Sobel told GreaterPortJeff. “It allows me to do wholesale work that I couldn’t do before.”

In her new store, which opened last week, she’s able to carry grab-and-go products for the first time.

Some of those items will include small shareable cakes, cupcakes, brownies, and tarts.

There’s even a walk-in cake decorating option.

“We can set you up with tools, a turntable, cakes, cupcakes, and you can decorate it,” explained Sobel. “You can even bring a bottle and have fun.”

The walk-in decorations are for all ages, and no reservations are needed, though the stations will only be available Thursdays to Sundays

On Saturday, May 26, Sobel is planning a grand opening for her new store with plenty of free samples to be had.

“It is very exciting, the response has been great,” said Sobel. “The people have been so welcoming here in Wading River.”
