Achievements: Babylon teen’s mayoral ideas win statewide essay contest

|

Babylon Junior-High School eighth-grader Ryan Dunne knows exactly what he would do if he became mayor.

And he detailed it all in this year’s New York State Conference of Mayor’s “If I Were Mayor for A Day” writing contest.

Out of the 1,200 applicants, Dunne won first place for his plans to help Babylon Village.

“Ryan wrote that he would assist the town of Babylon by installing solar panels throughout the village, finding new ways to rid Southard’s Pond of litter and coordinate a means to reduce street flooding,” said a Babylon schools fficial.
