Greater East End coverage is funded in part by The Watershed Kitchen & Inn โ a warm, stylish North Fork destination in S. Jamesport featuring elevated comfort food, craft cocktails and beautiful boutique accommodations.
After less than two week on the North Fork waterfront, Amalfi Coastal Kitchen has wrapped up its run at Claudio’s Marina in Greenport.
The restaurant owners and Claudio’s ownership said the seasonal collaboration has come to an end by mutual agreement, with Claudio’s now planning to transition the restaurant and adjacent marina space into a dedicated venue for events and catering, according to joint statements provided to Greater Long Island.
The Claudio’s collaboration had marked the latest venture for Amalfi owner Salvatore Biundo and his team, whose original Hampton Bays restaurant opened in July 2024 after operating Centro Trattoria in Hampton Bays from 2016 through 2024.
“Sal and his team have built something special with Amalfi in Hampton Bays, and we were glad to bring a taste of that to our waterfront for the season,” Claudio’s ownership said in a shared statement, though shared by the Amalfi owners. “There was real potential to keep it going longer, but we talked it through with Sal and agreed a shorter run made the most sense this time. We’re looking forward to seeing Amalfi continue to thrive in Hampton Bays.”
Amalfi owner Sal Biundo said he appreciated the opportunity to bring the restaurant to Greenport.
“Bringing Amalfi up to Claudio’s was a great experience, and I’m proud of what we did there,” Biundo said. “There was an opportunity to keep it going longer, but Amalfi’s home is Hampton Bays, and that’s where our focus continues to be.
“I appreciate the Claudio’s team for the partnership.”
Amalfi at Claudio’s got operating on Saturday, July 4. The official grand opening happened Thursday, July 9, according to the Amalfi owners.
Greater Long Island has also reached out to Claudio’s ownership for direct comment.
