‘Biggest Loser’ star opening first Crumbl Cookies on Long Island, Feb. 10

|

Cookie fans, mark your calendars.

Because the monster of cookie shops — Crumbl Cookies — is at last coming to Long Island. On Friday, Feb. 10, the chain will throw open the doors to its newest store, in Levittown, the company announced today.

As GreaterLongIsland.com reported in December, Crumbl’s Levittown shop is in Kohl’s Plaza at 3601 Hempstead Turnpike, near Party City and PetSmart and across the parking lot from BJ’s, Best Buy and LA Fitness in Nassau Mall.

One of the new store’s owners is Tara Costa, a Bethpage native who starred in and finished third on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” in 2009 — and later temporarily became a spokesperson for Anytime Fitness.

Costa and her co-owner Lori Rung said they’re chomping at the bit to satisfy the cravings of sweet tooth Long Islanders, and serve up their cookies in Crumbl’s signature, social media postable pink boxes.

“I feel strongly that we rise by lifting others,” said Costa, who grew up in nearby Bethpage and was a huge fan favorite when she lost over 150 pounds on “The Biggest Loser.”

“Positivity and encouragement go a long way towards changing someone’s life, and I am looking forward to doing this with one cookie at a time,” she added.

Owner’s ‘Biggest Loser’ days

Costa and Rung have spent months renovating the space and preparing for next week’s opening.

“I am excited to create new memories in the kitchen and teach the younger generation the
importance of family, friends and communities, while ensuring that love is always in the secret recipe,” said Rung, who discussed how she cherished childhood memories of baking with her mother and grandmother.

Catering to most people’s schedules, the store will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Customers can order in-person during the first five business days of the Levittown’s store’s grand opening. Then, starting Wednesday, Feb. 15, Crumbl’s treats will be available via delivery, curbside pickup, catering and nationwide shipping, with orders being accepted through the Crumbl App and online at Crumbl.com.

The menu for the Levittown Crumbl’s opening week menu will feature six of Crumbl’s 200+ weekly rotating flavors, including Crumbl’s award-winning Milk Chocolate Chip. Some other Crumbl specialty flavors include Cornbread, Cookies & Cream, S’mores, Key Lime Pie, Peppermint Bark, Caramel Popcorn, Buttermilk Pancake and Galaxy Brownie.

‘Flavor drops’ every week on social

The chain makes weekly “flavor drops” on social media every Sunday, announcing which six flavor cookies will be sold that week. Launched in 2017, the company’s heavy presence on social media — it has 3.4 million followers on Instagram — has spurred its rapid franchising from coast to coast and in Hawaii and Alaska.

A second Long Island Crumbl is expected to open soon in Smithtown. Up until now, the nearest Crumbl was in Manhattan. That location is on the Upper Eastside of Manhattan and is co-owned by New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson.
