Body found in Three Mile Harbor waters off Springs

Clammers in Three Mile Harbor in Springs Friday night found a man dead on a grass island in the water, East Hampton Town Police said.

Police and EMS personnel responded about 7:36 p.m. Friday after the people clamming in the area discovered an unresponsive man, police said. Shellfish harvesting equipment was found near the man, who was identified by authorities as Edward Garbowksi, 62, of East Hampton.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police said Garbowski may have suffered a medical emergency prior to his death. Detectives found no evidence of suspicious circumstances, police said.
