Bomb threats force evacuations at two Hamptons schools

|

Students and staff at two public schools in Westhampton were evacuated Friday morning after both schools received bomb threats, authorities said.

Threats were called into Westhampton Beach’s high school and middle school, schools Superintendent Carolyn Probst confirmed via online correspondence with parents and guardians.

Students at the middle school were moved to nearby Westhampton Beach Fire Department, while the high school students were transferred to St. Mark’s Church on Main Street. It was not immediately clear when the threats were telephoned in to the schools.

“A short while ago, both the middle school and high school received bomb threat calls,” Probst wrote. “We have safely evacuated all Middle School and High School students and staff from the buildings and are moving them to our designated evacuation locations.”

Bus transportation will be provided at the evacuation locations for the students to get home, the superintendent said.

There was no threat to the elementary school, she added.
