Camera Concepts & Telescope Solutions is celebrating its move to Stony Brook

|

After more than three decades in Patchogue Village, Camera Concepts & Telescope Solutions has moved its operation to a larger location in Stony Brook.

And owner Jeff Norwood said he’s been welcomed with open arms by the community.

“The doors were wide open,” he said of his Sept. 1 store opening. “There were 15 people in at a time.”

GreaterPatchogue originally reported the store’s move from Patchogue’s South Ocean Avenue to a more spacious location at 85 Main Street in Stony Brook.

Prior to Camera Concepts, the location in Stony Brook was a bridal shop for years, said Norwood.

Now with a bigger space, Norwood has a larger showroom, as well as a first-time stock area. He also has a basement to better organize online orders and fix cameras and telescopes.

The new store, which is in the heart of Stony Brook, will be open seven days a week.

Before the move from Patchogue after more than 30 years, Norwood said he was saddened over the thought of missing out on seeing regular customers. But that wasn’t the case.

“All our Patchogue customers seem to be coming!” Norwood said.

In celebration of his newest chapter, Norwood and his team will be hosting a grand opening party on Saturday, Oct. 7.

The day will consist of live folk rock music, raffles, refreshments, and vendors.

In front of the store, Camera Concepts will have viewing stations set up up throughout the day for people to watch the sun and stars.

And from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. there will be a meteor shower viewing.

“We’re very excited; this is the best move we have ever done,” he said. “[Stony Brook residents] keep telling me how many telescopes I’m going to need to have [in stock] for Christmas. ”
