Survey session on future of Mastic/Shirley Conservation area

|

A community meeting on the future borders of the designated Mastic/Shirley Conservation area will be held today from 1-7 p.m. at the Mastic Beach Property Owners Association located at 31 Neighborhood Road in Mastic Beach.

At the meeting, hosted by Suffolk Legis. Rudy Sunderman, residents will be asked to fill out surveys and identify problem areas that experience flooding.

This conservation zone is critical to protecting environmentally sensitive land and residential property from future storm surge, Sunderman’s office said in a press release.

You do not have to attend to participate — use the attached survey that will be presented at these sessions. Fill it out and either drop it off at Sunderman’s office at 1120 Montauk Hwy. in Mastic or email to his chief of staff, Tim Rothang, at tim.rothang@suffolkcountyny.gov.

Feel free to share this information with anyone who may have an interest in this initiative.

A previous meeting on this issue was held Aug. 27 at the Mastic Beach Fire Department.
