Suffolk County Police cited a Medford teen Friday night after officers said he was caught performing illegal burnouts on a residential street.
Police said members of the department’s Street Racing Task Force saw a 2002 Ford Mustang spinning its tires at the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Poe Drive about 6:42 p.m.
Officers stopped the vehicle and cited the driver, Andrew Davanzo, 19, of Medford, under a Suffolk County Code violation that prohibits unlawful speed contests, sideshows and races.
In addition to the code violation, Davanzo was issued two traffic summonses and his vehicle was impounded at the scene. Police said he is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 5.

Friday’s incident came on the heels of an illegal street racing meetup in Medford. That incident occurred Thursday just before 10 p.m. on National Boulevard near Munsell Road.
It resulted in 38 traffic citations, eight drivers cited, and six vehicles impounded. Police said the drivers were drifting, performing burnouts and driving recklessly, with several spectators gathered nearby.
