Port Jefferson is getting in on the breakfast crawl game.
For the uninitiated, a breakfast crawl is like a bar crawl, but instead of hopping from restaurant to restaurant in search of beer, wine and cocktails, these crawlers are out looking for eggs, sausages and pancakes.
And it’s 2018, of course, so the chefs will get a bit fancier than that.
On the South Shore, Patchogue is now entering its third year running breakfast crawls, which is the brainchild of local artist, veteran and chamber member Dave Rogers.

One thing both villages have in common is Toast Coffeehouse, and owner Terence Scarlatos already has a few crawls under his restaurant’s belt on the South Shore.
“I think it will we a very successful event,” he said Monday. “We have a lot of great chefs and restaurants.”
The Port Jeff crawl is planned for March 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. The rain date is March 31.
Nine restaurants and specialty food shops have signed up thus far. There will be two ticket tiers, price wise. The cheaper ticket will allow access to less spots — just as they do in Patchogue.

The event is being run by the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the fledgling Pro-Port Restaurant Group, which brought the idea to the chamber.
A percentage of proceeds will be donated to the Welcome Friends Soup Kitchen of Port Jefferson.
“They kind of brought this idea to our community,” Barbara Ransome, the chamber’s director of operations, said of the fledgling restaurant group. “They said let’s try it.”
One fun thing about the Patchogue crawls, is that participants would get the opportunity to enjoy breakfast at places that don’t typically serve it, such as Swell Taco, Bobbique or Locale.
So far, nine establishments have signed up and a list is below.
Tickets will go on sale online starting on Feb 21.
GreaterPortJeff will update the public when tickets become available.
Participants may choose where they want to go and will be given a “menu booklet” listing locations and the food being offered at each. Tickets and booklets will be made available one week prior to the event to be picked up at the Chamber.
Sales might also be made the same day of the event, according to the chamber.
