Five boaters rescued by Riverhead police in Peconic Bay

|

Riverhead Police’s dive team rescued five boaters Tuesday night from a stranded boat in Peconic Bay.

The 17-foot boat had lost power and was drifting in the bay. Cops received a 911 call from the boaters about 9:55 p.m.

Riverhead Police deployed a drone to locate the boat, before the department’s dive team was activated and reached the boat. Dive Team members found the five subjects on the boat all in good health.

The dive team towed the boat to shore.
