Five emerging Long Island craft breweries to keep an eye on

|

SAND CITY

Nestled off Main Street in the scenic Village of Northport, head down a tiny alley and you’ll find one of Long Island’s best, little-known breweries.

I favor their IPAs, especially Fade to Jade, but their other beers hit it out of the park as well. The breakfast stout and Second Wave (a double IPA) both clock in at 8% and sit comfortably in my wheelhouse. They also offer Red Sand (and amber ale), and on the way, an oatmeal  IPA called Day Drifter.

The tasting rooms gets packed so either come early or be a curmudgeon like me and head there during off-peak hours. They are one of the few tasting rooms that are open 7 days a week!

“Huzzah!” sez I as my liver gently weeps…

Make sure to follow these guys on Twitter to get the latest updates. Also, most breweries are dog friendly, but call in advance if you plan on bringing your pooch, just to make sure.

That’s about it for now, fellow craft beer geeks and bar flies! But keep an eye out for updates as the Long Island craft beer scene continues to grow. Hope to stumble into you soon …
