Five emerging Long Island craft breweries to keep an eye on

Located very close to Great South Bay Brewery, DUBCo is one of the reasons Bay Shore is becoming a spot on the island where people go for good beer.

I am a fan of Sore Thumb IPA (named for the local beach), a double IPA offered in 16 oz. cans. Sticky, resinous, and pungent, it really hit the spot for a hop head like myself!

Currently, they offer Galactic Equinox (another imperial IPA I’ll have to try!) but there are a few eye-catching options as well. “Shiver” is billed as a “winter saison.” which flies against convention as saisons typically are brewed in the winter to be consumed in the summer. This beer also bucks the norm by clocking in at 9% when traditional saisons normally in the 5%-8% ABV range.

The “Sour Sailor” is a sour ale; a style most beer drinkers (even craft beer folks) need to get accustomed to.  If it holds to tradition, it should be tart (not sour, per se) but also bright and thirst quenching. It will shine when paired with appropriate funky cheeses!
