The revolving lineup of kombucha teas — ice cold and on tap at Sherry’s Market —comes right from Nassau County.
Coastal Craft Kombucha of Oceanside is a mainstay at the Deer Park Avenue market.
“Our love for kombucha comes from the desire to stay fit and active and eat as healthy as possible, but also enjoy as much flavor that life has to offer at the same time,” writes the company’s founders.
For the uninitiated, Kombucha tea is a fermented drink made with tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast.
The Mayo Clinic reports that the drink is sometimes referred to as kombucha mushroom tea, however kombucha is not a mushroom — it’s a colony of bacteria and yeast. Drink up.
