Greater Long Island breaks pageview record for third straight month

|

Greater Long Island Media Group, Inc. has done it again.

For the third consecutive month, the online news platform broke its own record for pageviews. In March, greaterlongisland.com did an impressive 605,612 pageviews, a new high for the company. The website also received 402,831 unique visitors in the same month.

In February, the company’s record was 579,453 site views, and in January, it was 555,000 views. The surge in traffic in February was attributed to Long Island’s Best Bartender competition, which had over 173,000 votes.

“Just when we thought we couldn’t do anything better, we pull off a 600K pageview March,” said Mike White, Greater Long Island’s publisher. “The site is just exploding, and we’re thrilled about the word getting out to more and more Long Islanders every day that this is a great news source for them, and best of all, it’s free for readers.”

The platform has a team of Long Island reporters and photographers who have previously worked in major newsrooms like ESPN, the Daily News, and the New York Post.

Greaterlongisland.com began in 2015 as greaterpatchogue.com, a platform covering Patchogue, Bellport Village, and its neighboring hamlets. However, other downtowns in Long Island requested similar news coverage, and the website expanded to cover the entire island after fully expanding into Nassau County last year.

The company’s goal is to engage communities by telling their stories and getting readers involved in fun new ways. According to Nick Esposito, editorial director of Greater Long Island, readers should watch out for a new “greater” way to promote local events on the website.

“We have something really great in the works,” he said. “Stay tuned!”

Greater Long Island is well on its way to breaking its 2022 views of 4.6 million, with the site projected to reach over 6.8 million pageviews this year.
