Hammer & Stain, a DIY studio that first opened in Sayville in 2019, is opening a second location, this time at Station Yards in Ronkonkoma.
The news comes some four months after a Main Street fire damaged the original studo. The nighttime fire in Sayville also sparked, damaging several storefronts, soon after Hammer & Stain owner Sandra Bernius signed a lease at Station Yards.
But Bernius and her partner, Roy Winstanley, reopened the Sayville studio, at least a portion of it as they rebuild, and are now pushing forward to open in Ronkonkoma.
No anticipated opening date has been announced.
“We are thrilled to welcome Hammer & Stain to Station Yards,” said Meaghan Coughlan Treat of Tritec Real Estate, the project’s developers. “This creative, community-centered experience aligns perfectly with our vision of making Station Yards a vibrant and engaging destination. We know the community, including our residents, will enjoy the opportunity to tap into their creativity in such a fun and collaborative setting.”
Hammer & Stain, once complete, will open in a nearly 2,500-square-foot space at 9 Hawkins Avenue, in Suite 3102.
“Guest experience and an immersive ambiance is the vision we sought for our second location, and we found that in Station Yards,” Bernius said in a statement. “We are deeply grateful to our loyal customers for their continued support during this challenging time in Sayville. We look forward to welcoming new and familiar faces to both studios. The sense of community at Station Yards enhances the experience we can provide our guests.”
Once open in Ronkonkoma, the Hammer & Stain owners expect to offer a full schedule of group workshops, private customizable parties and walk-in craft hours for adults and kids, along with birthday parties. The new studio will also include a retail component, offering custom-order goods and gifts, including handmade items and laser engraving.
Steven D’Orazio, Maria Valanzano, and Jake Horowitz, all vice presidents at Collier’s, represented both the tenant and the landlord in the lease transaction, an announcement from Tritec reads.
