Christian Guardino, the Patchogue-born singer who once earned the golden buzzer on “America’s Got Talent,” now needs his community’s help on his newest singing competition: “American Idol.”
During his audition, his impressive rendition of “A Song for You” by Donny Hathaway received a standing ovation from the celebrity judges and a big hug from Lionel Richie. He was awarded the golden ticket, sending him directly to Hollywood.
And now he’s made it all the way to the Top 24.
His next American Idol performance will air tonight starting at 8 p.m. on ABC. To move on to the Top 20, he needs the people’s vote. Here’s how to help Guardino advance to the next round:
- Text: They will give his contestant # which will then need to be texted to “21523”
- Website: abc.com/shows/american-idol/vote
You do need to set up an account with ABC. If you have a Disney + account, you would use your same login information. - American Idol app: you need to download the app and sign in as you do on the website and create an account with a valid email. (You can also sign in with your Disney account.)
You can vote 10 times per voting method.
In addition to that, we’re told by his family it would be helpful to posts of Guardino on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, with comments like “Team Christian all the way” or “Christian Guardino for the next American Idol.”
Beth Guardino, Christian’s mother, told GLI that Christian’s “Idol” experience has “empowered” him in a way she’s never seen. “We’ve been seeing newfound confidence within himself. His world has immensely brightened up, quite literally.”
(Guardino had previously endured experimental gene therapy in his eyes due to having a rare eye disorder. You learn all about his journey in our podcast with him.)
“He’s worked so hard; he was much younger on AGT,” said Beth. “This is a whole other level. He’s thriving.”
A viewing party will take place today starting at 7 p.m. at PeraBell Food Bar, a Patchogue restaurant that is co-owned by Guardino’s uncle, David Chiarella.
“I’m very proud of him and excited to see what he’s capable of,” said Chiarella. “He deserves it. He’s just naturally a humble, polite, and grateful person.
“That’s the charm about him. Just a great kid.”
