Hicksville man claims $1M Mega Millions prize

A Hicksville man collected his Mega Millions second-prize of $1 million today, lottery officials reported.

James Tinghitella’s lucky ticket matched the first five numbers drawn on Aug. 1. The winning Mega Millions numbers drawn that night were 08, 24, 30, 45, and 61, and the Mega Ball was 12.

Tinghitella, who accepted a single lump sum payment of $651,000, after required withholdings, purchased the ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 613 Broadhollow Road in Melville.

Against all odds: Long Island man wins the lottery twice

Tinghitella’s big score comes a few short weeks after West Hempstead’s Marco Accardo amazingly claimed two separate $1 million Mega Millions prizes.
