The Patchogue Village Business Improvement District will soon be mailing out nearly 6,000 brochures highlighting the benefits of living, working or investing in Patchogue Village.
The 5,722 pamphlets will end up in people’s mailboxes across the village and beyond, said the BID’s executive director, Dennis Smith. It’s the first brochure the village has put together since 2012.
The pamphlets are also being distributed elsewhere across Long Island, such as chamber offices, and carried to trade shows.
“We’re talking about the great investment that’s been made in Patchogue in the last 8, 10, 12 years or so, and the great accomplishments that have been achieved with those,” Smith said this week.
The brochure, entitled “The future is now in Patchogue Village” also touches on some changes in demographics in the village over the last decade.
For instance, nearly 49 percent of the village’s population is now between 25 and 54 years old.
“Patchogue has begun to start getting a lot younger than we used to be,” Smith told a group of village retail shop owners at a Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce-sponsored meeting Tuesday night.
“We’re capturing an audience that probably has the most dispensable income of any demographic,” he said.
The brochures will also be available at the village clerk’s office, building department or BID office.

• Attendance at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts has jumped from 55,000 in 2004 to 150,000 in 2015.
• The median household income in the village is $74,966. Suffolk County’s is $87,763.

• Patchogue Village has a walkability score of 83, according to walkscore.com. By comparison, San Francisco’s score is 84, the brochure reads.
• Patchogue Village now has six waterfront restaurants.
• Among other projects, the village is planning to construct pocket parks at 225 East Main Street (Carvel parking lot) with plantings, benches, passive walkways and new street lighting using county grants and village funds.
