America’s best Labor Day fishing destination is on Long Island, study finds

OK, we know Labor Day marks the end of summer — but in Montauk, it’s a great time to fish and perhaps the greatest fishing destination in America.

“The End” has been named the No. 1 Labor Day fishing destination in the U.S. for 2025 by FishingBooker, arguably the world’s largest platform for booking fishing trips.

FishingBooker’s annual list highlights 10 fishing destinations across the country that offer a combination of strong catches and appealing holiday-weekend atmospheres.

Montauk topped this year’s list, which includes both coastal and inland locations.

FishingBooker cited Montauk’s cool ocean breezes, active inshore and offshore fishing and scenic surroundings among the reasons for the top ranking.

Inshore anglers enjoy casting for striped bass, fluke, bluefish and black seabass, while offshore trips can yield bluefin tuna or sharks, depending on the weather.

FishingBooker, operating since 2013, says it offers more than 53,000 fishing trips in over 2,460 destinations worldwide.
