The Long Island Yellow Jackets are flying higher than ever — landing US Club Lax’s title as the No. 1 club lacrosse team in the nation for the third straight year.
What started in 2000 with just two girls teams has grown into a powerhouse program of more than 30 squads across Long Island, giving girls from second grade through high school juniors a place to train, compete and grow.
Over the years, thousands of former Yellow Jackets have gone on to play at the collegiate level, continuing their lacrosse journeys at some of the country’s top programs. This year alone, 50 juniors have already given their verbal commitments — a testament, the club says, to its track record of developing elite talent.
“This level of success can only be achieved through the dedication and hard work of the Long Island Elite Lacrosse Club Yellow Jackets coaching staff,” said Carol Rose, founder and director of the Yellow Jackets and longtime Northport High School girls lacrosse coach. “Their consistency, passion for the game, and commitment to excellence set the tone for our program each year.”
For Rose, who launched the program more than two decades ago and helped fuel the growth of the girls’ game on Long Island, the recognition is about more than trophies.
“As director of the Yellow Jackets, it’s incredibly rewarding to receive this honor again,” she said. “This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication and passion that everyone in our program puts in throughout the year.”
Rose says she started the club to give young athletes in the community a place to develop — never imagining what it would become.
“Seeing how far the Yellow Jackets have come — the success of our players, the dedication of our coaches, and the strength of our teams — has been beyond anything I could have dreamed,” she said. “It’s been incredible to watch this program evolve and continue to make an impact year after year. It’s especially rewarding to watch them play at the next level.”
