Turns out, this carpool partner was a real dummy.
Staging a mannequin in the front passenger seat of his car while riding in the Long Island Expressway’s HOV lane on Wednesday landed a Bellport driver in a heap of trouble, cops said.
Suffolk County Police said Arisme McGregor, 33, received multiple traffic tickets after he was pulled over about 4:40 p.m. in Melville for driving with the phony co-pilot.
A Highway Patrol officer was traveling east near Exit 50 when he became suspicious of the front-seat passenger in the 1998 Honda operated by McGregor.
The cop pulled over McGregor and discovered the “passenger” was, in fact, a mannequin — placed there in an apparent attempt to dodge the HOV lane’s two-person minimum rule.
McGregor was hit with summonses for the HOV occupancy violation and for illegal window tint.
