Medford among 3 LI areas getting new Aldi stores in 2025

|

Aldi, the German-based discount grocery chain, is expanding its presence on Long Island, with a new store planned for Medford.

Set to open in 2025, the supermarket will be located at the Medford Crossings shopping center at 2799 Route 112, occupying the space formerly home to Michaels. The arts and crafts retailer relocated to a new spot within the same shopping center, just a few doors down, earlier this summer.

Construction has begun on the new Medford Aldi, which will span approximately 22,000 square feet, according to Newsday.

“We are excited to confirm we are planning to open a Medford store next year,” Chris Daniels, Aldi’s South Windsor divisional vice president, told Greater Long Island. “As we get closer to the opening, we’ll be sure to share more details in the coming months.”

In addition to Medford, Aldi has two more locations slated for Long Island in 2025. One will open in Lake Ronkonkoma at the former King Kullen site at 153 Ronkonkoma Avenue, and another in Bethpage at the old A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts location at 3988 Hempstead Turnpike.

This announcement follows a busy December for Aldi on Long Island. That month, the company opened two new stores: one in Central Islip at 215 Carleton Avenue, on the former New York Institute of Technology campus, and another in East Northport, in the space previously occupied by Barnes & Noble. With these additions, there are now 15 Aldi stores across Long Island.

Aldi first entered the Long Island market in 2011 with its Bay Shore location. Over the years, it has established stores in communities including Lindenhurst, Patchogue, Selden, Lake Grove, Riverhead, Rocky Point, Bohemia, Valley Stream, Carle Place, North Babylon, Shirley, and Hempstead.
