A Farmingville woman driving drunk plowed over tents and artwork on the Montauk Green early Sunday, destroying numerous pieces and prompting a string of criminal charges, East Hampton Town Police said.
The crash happened about 2:59 a.m. on Carl Fisher Plaza, when 23-year-old Nicoly Ribeiro De Souza drove a 2020 Nissan Rogue onto the grassy park area, where tents and artwork had been stored overnight for an event, authorities said.
Police said “numerous tents and pieces of artwork were damaged” in the crash. The park this weekend is hosting the annual “Art Show on the Green” event.
Ribeiro De Souza was taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. After her release, she was charged with driving while intoxicated and six counts of reckless criminal mischief. She remains in custody awaiting arraignment, police said.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact East Hampton Town Police at 631.537.7575.
