Patchogue’s business leaders were informed Tuesday that metered parking will be suspended in the village for the holiday shopping season.
The meters will be suspended from Friday, Nov. 27 (Black Friday), through Sunday, Jan. 3.
“On behalf the chamber we extend our sincere gratitude to the Village of Patchogue for allowing for this,” said Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce executive director David Kennedy.
He’s encouraging all businesses to inform their clients and customers that they do not need to pay for any parking.
The news comes toward the tail end of a year that saw the chamber shift its focus to encouraging more retail shops, and, with that, shoppers to come downtown — as opposed to bars and restaurants.

The village instituted the meter program last year, designated some spots as paid parking while leaving others free. That program generated over $250,000 from June 2014 to June 2015.
