Richie Capizzi was a father, husband, friend, and world class pastry chef.
Despite his renown, he devoted much of his free time volunteering with a nonprofit called Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, which helps fund pediatric cancer treatments.
His dedication is responsible for funding over 20 cancer treatments.
But he lost his own battle to brain cancer in September 2022. Now, a group of friends and disciples in Merrick are continuing his legacy, dubbing themselves the Warriors for Richie.
“Our goal is to bring our community together to show support for the Capizzi family while hopefully making a difference in the lives of so many kids affected with cancer,” said Jennifer Casano, one of the Warriors.
To start things off, they have big plans this September in Merrick, with the goal of raising $100,000. That’s the amount needed to fully fund a treatment through a grant that will be in Richie Capizzi’s name.
They’re calling the initiative Be a Good Cookie Merrick. Scroll down for the fundraising lineup.
