At one year and four months of being opened, Lindenhurst’s Restoration Kitchen & Cocktails has officially broken the six-figure mark with its donations to local charities.
This month, the owners of the area’s first non-profit restaurant, Billy and Nicole Miller, handed two large checks to charities KiDS NEED MoRE ($15,832.95) and the Ray Pfeifer Foundation ($15,212.05). This brings the couple’s total donations to $121,076.96 since opening in summer 2018.
“It’s really been amazing,” said Billy told GreaterBabylon.”The support we’ve received is humbling and special.”
Here’s about the latest two charities to benefit from the Miller’s generosity:
KiDS NEED MoRE is an Amityville-based organization that helps enhance the “lives of children, families & young adults coping with cancer and life-threatening illness,” according to its site.
The Ray Pfeifer Foundation honors late FDNY firefighter, Ray Pfeifer, of Levittown — who died of 9/11 related cancer — by helping cover the medical expenses of first responders not covered by insurance. Click here to learn more.
how does it work?
Every four months, Billy and Nicole pick two charities to donate their net-profits to.
They allow their customers to decide what percentage of the profits each organization receives.
When each patron sits to eat, they are given information about each organization.
After their meal is over, everyone at the table is given a coin, where they have a choice of which cause speaks to them more. There are two flower pots that represent each foundation.
The next two charities to benefit will be Paws of War and Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst.
