Smith Point County Park in Shirley opened today through Memorial Day weekend to Suffolk County residents dawn to dusk.
The beach will remain open from dawn until dusk, and the entry fee is waived today. Starting tomorrow, the parking fee is $9 with a green key ($18 without green key).
The beach will follow strict social distancing rules, with a keep capacity of up to 50 percent, no group sports and playgrounds will remain closed. Masks will be required in areas where social distancing is not possible.
A mask is not required while swimming or when sitting on the sand; that’s if you’re 6 feet apart from others.
Tiki Joe’s restaurant will be open Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The beachside eatery’s bathrooms will be open.

Additionally, Suffolk County Parks announced that its campgrounds, including the Smith Point campgrounds, will officially open for those with existing reservations beginning June 1.
The reservation system will open for new today at 7 p.m. today.
The parks department said it will be accepting new reservations from June 15 forward. The reservation window has been extended to 180 days, camping units must be self-contained, with no tent camping, and there will be no walk-up reservations, but you can make reservations 24 hours in advance for the first day of camping.
