The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County will be bringing its popular holiday light show to Smith Point County Park starting Dec. 1.
The Girls Scouts run the show in partnership with Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone’s office and a host of volunteers from utility companies and unions.
“It’s a lot of volunteers,” said Girls Scouts of Suffolk County spokeswoman Christine Terzella. “We couldn’t do it without them.”
Terzella said the Girls Scouts started setting up the show — now in its 16th year and its third year at Smith Point — on Nov. 8. The drive-through event has been rebranded as the Smith Point Light Show.
Here’s what you need to know:
- It runs from Dec. 1-Dec. 30 (except Dec. 24 and 25, when it is closed).
- There will be more than 50 displays over a stretch of more than a mile.
- The cost is $20 per car, $40 for a minibus or RV and $70 for school or coach buses. Credit cards only; tickets may be purchased online or at the show’s entrance.
- 3-D fireworks glasses are back by popular demand—available while supplies last.
- Proceeds support programs for girls.
- The Girl Scouts are running a contest for ticket pre-sales. Those who purchase between now and Nov. 30 will be entered into a raffle to win a year’s supply of Girl Scout cookies.
