The major overhaul of Long Island’s premier live music destination is well underway, and the state just released a few photos to prove it.

Pictured is the brand-new, art deco-style marquee at Jones Beach Theater.

But there’s more work on the way, including upgrades to the promenades, restrooms and hospitality areas, with new plazas that will add more food and beverage destinations. One of the plazas will be dedicated to local food and beverage options.

“New Yorkers have visited the historic Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater for years to see their favorite artists perform, and this investment will fund critical improvements to this iconic venue,” Governor Kathy Hochul said when the project was announced in October 2022.

“Thanks to this partnership between New York state and Live Nation Entertainment, we will create an even better experience for concert-goers and ensure that this theater remains a premier concert venue for years to come.”

Several thousand upper level seats in the 14,500-seat amphitheater will also be replaced over time. The entire project is expected to take about five years, a joint venture by the state and Live Nation. Live Nation has previously renovated the venue, installing 18-foot high digital boards, adding Taste NY food and drink options, and expanding concessions, Greater Long Island had reported.

The quintessential summer destination opened 70 years ago as the Jones Beach Marine Theater with about 8,200 seats. In addition to music, the theater was once a premier destination for Broadway-style performances.

This year’s lineup includes Maroon 5, Post Malone, Pitbull and T-Pain, Jason Aldean, Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire.
