Ten restaurants that opened on Long Island in 2020, despite COVID-19

|

OLD FIELDS BARBECUE, SETAUKET

Old Fields Barbecue opened to fanfare in February at 130 Old Town Road.

Owner David Tunney’s collection of wooden crates were cut and hung along one wall in the dining room (pictured). The long tables and booths were hand made by the head chef, along with another one of the founders.

Even before COVID struck, diners checked in at a host station where they would order food from a menu board that includes brisket, chorizo sausage, pulled pork, mac & cheese and slaw. The hosts and hostesses typically suggested one meat and two sides for one person.
