Ten restaurants that opened on Long Island in 2020, despite COVID-19

Bright and beautiful, Hermanas Kitchen and Cocktails opened in Lindenhurst in January, about a year since GreaterBabylon first broke the news of the planned Latin restaurant.

The restaurant’s co-owners are Kristen Lapof, Lauren Nash and Sara Pesserillo — who are all best friends.

They opened to immediate and immense positivity in the downtown. On their first Friday night, diners packed the 45-seat restaurant to try Hermanas’ mix of small and large plate dishes and assorted cocktails.

Hermanas maintains a five-star rating on Yelp with 41 reviews upon publication of this post, however the space is small. “Due to capacity restrictions and appropriate physical distancing, we can currently only have five tables inside our restaurant and no bar seating,” the website currently reads, along with providing other important COVID restrictions updates. “Because of this, we will mainly be taking indoor seating reservations by phone.
