Ten restaurants that opened on Long Island in 2020, despite COVID-19

RISE & GRIND, PATCHOGUE

Patchogue’s latest breakfast and lunch spot Rise & Grind opened in the height of summer on East Main Street, in the former Country Kitchen space.

“I just want people to have good food and for this to be a hangout spot,” owner Philip Shum said before opening to immediate wait times.

It took more than a year-and-a-half for Shum to find the perfect spot for his envisioned, modern luncheonette with a full service coffee bar.

In March of this year he was sold on the space, equipped with enough room on the property for outdoor dining and plenty of parking in the back.
