Batters up!

For the first time in 15 years, the Long Island Ducks are holding an open player tryout, which will take place in Central Islip on Saturday, April 14.

Registration for position players will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Bethpage Ballpark, with pitchers coming in at 10 a.m.

Duck hopefuls will have a shot to showcase their talents through drills and a 60-yard dash.

The best players will be asked to play in a scrimmage following the workout.

“Ballplayers looking for a chance to play with the Ducks are strongly encouraged to attend,” says the Ducks president and general manager, Michael Pfaff. “This is a unique opportunity to show your abilities and potentially earn an invite to spring training.”

The professional baseball club, which plays in the Atlantic League, recommends reserving a spot in advance.

There is an administration fee of $95 up-front, with an additional $110 on the day of the event.

According to a release, players must be 18 years or older and bring their own equipment.
