A beloved Italian restaurant at Mohegan Sun has reopened with a bold new twist — and some strong Long Island roots.
Ballo Italian, formerly nestled within Mohegan’s Casino of the Earth, has been transformed into The Farm Italy Mohegan Sun, which opened on Friday, May 30.
This is the latest evolution from restaurateur John Tunney, whose group also runs The Shed and Besito Mexican Restaurants. The original Farm Italy debuted in Huntington in April 2023 and was later named one of OpenTable’s Top 100 restaurants in the U.S.
Tunney announced last year that a second Farm Italy was headed to Westbury. With the Mohegan Sun location now open, the growing brand is officially three strong.
Tunney previously told GLI that the Mohegan location wouldn’t just get a new name — it would feature a reimagined menu and an entirely new vibe.
“Transforming Ballo into The Farm Italy is more than a facelift — it’s a whole new heartbeat,” he said. “We’re bringing that handcrafted warmth, the gorgeous design, the deep love of food, and giving it a new home at Mohegan Sun.”
