Wegmaniacs, it’s almost time.
Long Island’s first Wegmans is just a few months away from opening its doors at 3240 Middle Country Road, with an anticipated launch in early 2025, a company spokesperson confirmed to GLI. A grand opening is also in the works for February, according to the company’s website.
Located in DSW Plaza, the store is receiving its final touches. Recently, signage went up for the 95,000-square-foot supermarket. Scroll down to see photos of the progress.

Once open, this will be the first grocery store in the shopping center since Fairway Market closed in 2016.
Demolition at the Lake Grove site began in November after Wegmans secured the final permits.
Wegmans plans to hire 500 employees for the new store and is currently accepting applications for full-time and part-time positions. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply online in advance using this link.
“We are so excited to open the first Wegmans location on Long Island and become part of this amazing community,” said store manager Dawn Cooper. “We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are passionate about food, people, and serving our community.”
The planned arrival of Wegmans on Long Island — following store openings in Brooklyn and Manhattan — has been highly anticipated by Wegmans fans and Lake Grove officials alike.
When the family-owned chain announced its Long Island expansion in April 2022, Lake Grove’s mayor praised the move as a “positive addition to our village” that would help boost local retail.
“The company has a reputation that will bring folks near and far into Lake Grove to do their shopping,” Mayor Robert Scottaline said at the time.
Wegmans operates 110 stores across eight states and employs more than 53,000 people.
