It’s that time again, when Long Island’s main streets and downtowns become awash in Kelly green for the big, annual St. Patrick’s Day parades. The much-anticipated parade season gets rolling this weekend, with two parades in Suffolk and two in Nassau County. Scroll down for details.
Kings Park
The 14th Annual Kings Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off the season on Long Island this Saturday, March 2, starting at noon at the corner of Lou Avenue and Pulaski Road. It then proceeds down Main Street before turning onto Church Street and ending on Old Dock Road at the middle school.
Pulaski Road will be closed between Cedar Street and Route 25A beginning at 9:45 a.m. Beginning at 11 a.m., Route 25A will be closed between Lawrence Road and County Line Drive; Indian Head Road will be closed between Meadow Road and Route 25A; and Church Street will be closed between Route 25A and Hilden Street. This is according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
East Islip
The 59th Annual John P. Reilly St. Patrick’s Day Parade happens Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m., and marches for about two hours along Main Street, from the East Islip Public Library in the east to Irish Lane in the west. Main Street in East Islip will be closed from Overlook Drive to Route 111 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to Suffolk Police. Motorists can use Union Boulevard as an alternate route.
Mineola
The Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens will host its 74th Annual St Patrick’s Parade on Sunday, March 3, starting at 1 p.m. Marchers start lining up at noon on Court House Drive.
Bethpage
The 32nd Annual Bethpage St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off at noon Sunday, March 3, along Central Avenue and then takes a circuitous route through Bethpage, proceeding west to Stewart Avenue, then north to Burkhardt Ave. and east to Broadway before heading south toward the center of town.
