The secret’s out — Tullulah’s is moving.
But don’t fret, the Bay Shore staple is staying in the downtown.
The restaurant’s owners announced that they’re going to be moving from 4th Ave. to 56 W. Main Street. The new space is located across from Salt & Barrel in the first floor of a mixed-use building that had been completely renovated in 2019.
Steven Scalesse, the co-owner of the neighborhood favorite, said that this has been in the works since last year and they finally set it in stone.
“We’re going to keep giving little snippets along the way,” he said. “But we’ll be breaking ground on the new space soon.”
The restaurant has been around for 17 years, after opening in 2006 by Scalesse and his team. Known for their cocktails, brunch and great food, Scalesse said the original spot helped pave the way for Bay Shore’s resurgence.
The Tullulah’s team said there is no immediate time frame on when the move will happen, but they aren’t in an immediate rush because there is still a “good amount” of time left on their lease at 4th Ave.
“We’re going to be doing a full renovation there, and that’s going to take time,” Scalesse said.
The original Tullulah’s will remain open and operating in the meanwhile, Scalesse said.
What will happen to the original Tullulah’s location? According to Scalesse, him and his team have a been pinging ideas off each other, but nothing has been finalized yet.
“We’re just going to be moving the original Tullulah’s to this location on Main Street,” Scalesse said. “And that’s where we’ll be for another 30 years.”
