Woman spotted swimming feet from whale, shark and school of fish off Montauk

Drone video caught the encounter out east as it happened

A humpback whale on one side. A school of fish on the other. A shark cruising around nearby.

And in the middle of it all: a woman swimming, seemingly frolicking and perhaps unaware of the company she was keeping.

Drone footage recently captured by Hamptons photographer and videographer Joanna Steidle shows the swimmer in the water near Montauk, with a huge humpback whale on one side and a “skull” — a large, tightly packed school of fish — on the other.

A shark was spotted nearby as well, according to the footage, in what was most likely feeding time for the predators drawn to the bait fish.

Steidle’s eye-in-the-sky clip was shared by Storyful, and then picked up by ABC 7 News. The ABC 7 share has garnered thousands of views across Instagram and YouTube.
